North Oregon Coast Symphony and Astoria Public Library present Symphonic Storytime
The North Oregon Coast Symphony and Astoria Public Library have partnered to bring live
music and hands-on instrument experiences to local preschool children through stories. The
first event will be Tuesday, December 3rd at 10 AM at the Charlene Larsen Center for the
Performing Arts. Through an enchanting read-aloud text and beautiful artwork, a thrilling and
fantastical story of a farmer, a gentle old lady, a dancing dog, and one brave, tiny duckling will
warm the heart. As children gather on the stage to hear Pink Taylor read, NOCS musician
Shannon Steele will accompany the story on her violin. Children will learn more about the violin
and other stringed instruments as Steele demonstrates on her instrument. Child sized
instruments will be on hand for children to examine and play after the story.
This event is free and open to children aged 3-5 and their adults. The Charlene Larsen Center
is located at 588 16th Street in Astoria. North Oregon Coast Symphony, a non-profit orchestra,
brings together musicians from the north Oregon and south Washington coast to perform
classical music for local audiences. For more information, please visit the NOCS website nocsymphony.org/
