The Fiskare String Quintet, Astoria High School’s very own string group, will present “New Beginnings,” a New Year concert to benefit the Larsen Center, Sunday, January 14 at 3 pm. The event is Len Bergman’s senior project; also in the quintet are Allyson Fabela, Eliot Adams, Audrey Cereghino, and Dylan Morrow.
Here are some comments by Len Bergman:
“The five of have been playing together as a string quintet for around a year. Fiskare is the Swedish word for Fisherman, which has become our group’s moniker. We are putting on free performances for the community in order to complete our senior projects, at Astoria High School. The Fiskare Quintet has gone to Lucy’s Books and the Clatsop Retirement Center as well. Our main goal for the concert is to bring people and instruments together, play some fun and challenging music, and fill the Larsen Center’s seats.”
Joining the Fiskare quintet will be the Quadraphone Sax Quartet with Emily Sangerman, Russ Grindle, Sarah Shepherd, and Kathleen Strecker, and the well-known Tuba Quartet.
