Multi-instrumentalist Jenny Conlee and songwriter Casey Neill present a night of music and songs. Jenny Conlee, best known for her 23-year tenure as a member of indie icons The Decemberists, is stepping once more to center stage this year performing material from her new album ‘Tides: Pieces for Accordion and Piano’. Casey Neill is celebrating the release of his new limited press solo CD ‘time zero land’ and will be accompanied by Jenny for his set of songs new and old. Both Jenny and Casey have also been members of power pop supergroup The Minus 5 and Pogues cover band KMRIA. Come join us for an intimate evening with two acclaimed Portland musicians, collaborators, and friends.

JENNY CONLEE

Jenny Conlee plays piano, accordion, organ, and other keyboards and is based in Portland, Oregon. Most recognized as a founding member of indie-rock band The Decemberists, she has a long history in music. After studying classical piano as a child and in college, Conlee began playing with the folk jam-band Calobo in 1991 and toured the west for 10 years. Many musical collaborations came thereafter, such as: The Caleb Klauder Band, Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, Casey Neill and the Norway Rats, Ashleigh Flynn and the Riveters, The Minus 5, Little Sue Band, Black Prairie, Paper Bellows, Echo Echo Echo, and many others. Conlee also performs solo and in her own band The Jenny Conlee Quartet.

CASEY NEILL

Casey tours throughout the USA, Japan, and Europe, at venues such as Town Hall in New York, San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall, and the legendary Newport Folk Festival. Critic Marco Rivera described his music best for music blog Splendid: “Be it through raucous rockers, fragile acoustic ballads, passionate bursts of punk fury or soulful touches of Irish folk, Neill’s narrative talent and concern for real people’s struggles stand out. (Neill) evokes an epic feel that fits perfectly with the implicit grandiosity of this emotional material, delivered with a raspy, affectionate voice that recalls Life’s Rich Pageant-era Michael Stipe. The results are so evocative, you’ll be tempted to steep further in these memories, the better to share Casey Neill’s particular blend of personal and historical experience.”
