Cascadia Chamber Opera VOCAL ARTS FESTIVAL 2026
Cascadia Chamber Opera is excited to present the Cascadia Chamber Opera VOCAL ARTS Festival 2026 in Astoria, Oregon from Wednesday, August 12 through Sunday, August 23. This combination of events will include a fully staged, English-sung production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Così fan tutte, a celebration of choral music featuring singers from local choral ensembles, a whacky concert of opera singers in battle with one another, and a concert of aspiring young singers. Also on the schedule is Pint-Sized Opera, opening up the festival on Wednesday, August 12th, at 7 pm at Fort George Brewery, featuring performances by the festival artists!
EVENTS:
August 12, Wednesday, 7pm – Pint-Sized Opera at Fort George – Free. Come hear festival artists singing their favorites!
August 15, Saturday, 11am – Libretto and Learn at the Astoria Public Library – Free. Author and opera lover, Marianne Monson, will speak of the literary explorations of an opera libretto such as Lorenzo Da Ponte’s Così fan tutte or The School for Lovers, while revering the timelessness of Mozart’s beautiful music.
August 16, Sunday, 3pm – The Many Voices Concert at the Astoria High School – Ticketed. This afternoon concert at the Astoria High School will include members from the North Coast Chorale, the Cannon Beach Chorus, Ilwaco High School Choir, Astoria High School Concert Choir, and Bayside Singers.
August 19, Wednesday, 7pm – Opera Singer Olympics “At Each Other’s Throats” at Grace Episcopal Church – Ticketed. Great tenors, baritones, and basses from the opera company’s past and future performances will playfully compete olympic gold metal style for the audience’s affection.
August 22, Saturday, 2pm – The Young Regional Singers Concert at Grace Episcopal Church – Ticketed. Several young singers from the region, aged 16 to 20 years, will be selected for coachings and masterclasses with regional professionals. These young artists will be featured in this concert.
August 21, Friday, 7pm and August 23, Sunday 3pm – Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the Charlene Larsen Center – Ticketed. Mozart’s Così fan tutte is a sparkling comedy that explores the unpredictability of love and the delightful foolishness of human nature. When confidence, curiosity, and a touch of mischief collide, two young couples find their assumptions gently shaken. With buoyant music and playful wit, the opera invites us to laugh — and to reflect on how firmly any of us can claim to know our own hearts.
