Four Dialogues for Two Voices and Two Pianos by Ned Rorem
The words from American author Frank O’Hara’s “The Quarrel Sonata” form the libretto for this mini-opera. A couple meet one another on a subway train in some undefined city and we follow them through the dizzying heights and desperate lows of their relationship. It is a story we might recognize.
